DormRoom scans real residence hall rooms with LiDAR. When Housing assigns a room, students open that exact room, arrange the furniture with their roommates and step inside in 3D before move-in day.
01 · The problem
A housing assignment says which building and room, but not how big it is, where the window sits, or how the furniture fits.
Families buy rugs, shelves and storage before move-in, then return them when the room turns out smaller or shaped differently.
Two people share one small space and usually have no way to agree on a layout or split who brings what.
Everything gets figured out on the spot, in a hallway full of other families doing the same thing.
02 · How it works
We LiDAR-scan each room type in every residence hall, including mirrored layouts, so walls, doors and windows sit where they really are.
Before assignments, students filter halls by room type, bathroom, class year and walk time, then tour the floor plans.
Once Housing assigns a room, that exact room loads. Roommates drag the furniture Marquette provides, and blocked doors get flagged.
Walk through the finished layout in 3D, then plan what to bring knowing it fits.
Why DormRoom
| Typical dorm planners | DormRoom | |

| Seeing it | A flat layout or a single AI picture | Arrange in 2D, then step inside in 3D |
| Who it serves | Individual students | The university, its Housing office and every student |
| Move-in | A shopping list | Next: furniture set up in the room before arrival |
03 · Go-to-market
The key advantage is plugging straight into a university's housing software, so the right room appears the moment a student is assigned. A free first pilot builds the case study every other housing office will ask for.
Offered to Marquette free. Model its residence halls and connect to its housing system.

04 · What comes next
Once students have a finished layout, the next step is turning it into a real room. Students order furniture and decor from retailers like IKEA and Wayfair, and independent contractors build and set it up in the room before move-in day. This is the part of DormRoom that scales.
